March 2003 Creative Giving

Many of us are already aware of the reasons to give to nonprofits -- homelessness, poverty, abuse, illiteracy, disease -- so this month, we'd like to focus on innovative ways you can make charitable donations to support the many causes that need your support.

SPRING = WEDDINGS = CHARITABLE GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Although there still may be a chill in the air, spring is just around the corner. And spring has long been the most popular season to tie the knot, which means that thousands of couples are excitedly planning their nuptials -- and beginning to register for gifts. What does this mean for you?

***FOR COUPLES GETTING MARRIED: We offer a unique Wedding Registry that enables you choose from more than 850,000 charities and build a custom wedding page. Your guests then visit your page and donate to your featured charities, making the donation in your name. To register, please visit our Wedding Registry area.

***FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS: Make a charitable gift donation in the name of a couple you know who is getting married -- whether or not they have a Wedding Registry with JustGive.org. Many people struggle with the challenge of finding the perfect wedding or shower gift that is both meaningful and personal. Charitable gift donations are the ideal solution. If you don't know their favorite charities, here are some ideas:

*Donate to their local library or art/science museum
*Donate to their local homeless or women's shelter
*Donate to their local animal shelter or spay/neuter clinic
*If one or both work for a nonprofit, make a donation in their name
*Donate to their local school/afterschool program/mentoring project
*Donate to the church with whom they are affiliated
*Search for a couple who may be registered at JustGive.org.

WHAT WEDDING COUPLES ARE SAYING:
We currently have hundreds of couples using our Wedding Registry, and here is what a few of them had to say:

"I just got my first wedding donations today, and it made me so happy! Thank you fo rmaking this site -- it's nice to get pots and pans, but it rocks to get a donation. Thanks!"

"After looking at your site, it took us less than five minutes to decide that we didn't need wedding presents and this was the only registry for us. The way this is going we are feeling happier and happier about that decision by the day! You run a fantastic site and this has been a great process!"

"Thanks so much for providing this service! It's a blessing to share our happiness with so many others."

"Thank you for offering a website with such a great opportunity for giving!"

"We are so excited that donating is a viable option for our guests -- thanks very much for making this possible."

"I love your wedding registry. I'm getting married in April and am thrilled to be able to offer this option to our guests."

"This wedding registry is exactly what we were looking for. Thank you so much."
