REVIEW
YOUR 2001 GIVING ACCOUNT
Tax day (April 15th) is just around the corner. Have you taken advantage of
JustGive's Giving Account?
Personally, I don't
mind telling you that I just completed my taxes for 2001 and was so thrilled
for my JustGive Giving Account. In a couple clicks of my mouse, I was able to
indicate (under itemized deductions) how much money I had contributed to charitable
organzations last year. It was incredibly convenient to have it all in one place.
Keep in mind that if you do itemize and they ask for the names of the
charities you donated to, when using your JustGive Giving Account as your resource,
you do not have to name each charity. JustGiveis the organization
from whom you receive the tax deduction.
To view your JustGive
Giving Account, simply visit JustGive.org,
click on Your Account, and type in your email address and password.

REASONS
TO GIVE - IN MARCH
- National
Women's History Month - National
Women's History Month began as a single week and as a local
event. In 1978, Sonoma County, California, sponsored a women's
history week to promote the teaching of women's history—at that
time a neglected subject in elementary and high school curriculums.
The week of March 8th was selected to include International
Women's Day. In 1981 Congress passed a resolution making the
week a national celebration, and in 1987 expanded it to the full
month of March. The History and Rights of Women in America are
at a crucial point, and there is much work to be done. Please
visit our Women category
and support an organization to celebrate and protect women. Thank
you.
- National
Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign
designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices
and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. A nonprofit organization
that is committed to educating the public about food choices and nutrition
is Physicians
Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). PCRM
sponsors public education campaigns on nutrition, conducts nutrition research,
and promotes preventive medicine through innovative programs. Learn

Drug Awareness Month
-- More than seven percent of the population ages 18 years and
older--nearly 13.8 million Americans--have problems with drinking,
including 8.1 million people who are alcoholic. 80% of high school
seniors have used alcohol; in comparison, 62% have smoked cigarettes;
49% have used marijuana; and 9% have used cocaine. In the United
States, 12-17 year olds smoke more than 900 million packs of cigarettes
per year. Learn
more facts or find a charity that increases
awareness about substance abuse.

We created our KidsCorner to provide children (ages 5-12) information, resources,
and tools to make a difference in the world. Kids can find ways to help animals,
children, and the earth and stories about other kids who are volunteering their

OF THE MONTH
Love the earth
and sun and animals, Despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks, Stand
up for the stupid and crazy, Devote your income and labor to others... And your
