HELP US SEND $300,000 TO CHARITY!

We are in the process of raising $10,000 from our JustGive users to help us continue passing 100% onto charities! You have sent over $1,000,000 through JustGive.org to thousands of charities, but in order to continue our service, we need your help! With $10,000, we can send over $300,000 to charity, as JustGive pays 3% on each donation made through our website.

So that you can see the impact of your donation to JustGive, we have created a meter to monitor the donations made to us. Every dollar makes a difference for us! Thank you for supporting JustGive. Your donation to JustGive has a ripple effect that has a great impact with every dollar added.

REASONS TO GIVE - IN JUNE
  • JUNE 16TH IS FATHER'S DAY - In 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, organized the first Father's Day celebration on June 19, her own father's birthday. Dodd's father, a farmer and Civil War veteran, had been a single father to six young children after the death of his wife. Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her father's commitment and strength in raising his children. In 1972, President Richard Nixon signed into law a permanent U.S. Father's Day to be observed on the third Sunday of June. Honor your father by making a donation in his name. We've even created a special Father's Day area so you can choose charitable organizations that focus on fathers and make a gift donation. An e-Card is automatically sent to your recipients notifying them of your generous gift.
  • JUNE IS LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER PRIDE MONTH - Did you know that the Gay Pride Movement commemorates the historic Stonewall Uprising, during which violent confrontations with police ensued for a week in 1969 to protest police harassment against the gay community. On June 27, 1969, the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village, had been raided by the "Public Morals" section of the New York Police department. Support the Gay and Lesbian community found in our Community area.
  • JUNE IS GRADUATION MONTH - Millions of teens celebrate in June as they graduate from high school, preparing for the next step. But not every youth who starts high school finishes. The dropout rate for 16- to 19-year-olds living in central cities is 14 percent, which is twice the rate for teens in suburbs (7 percent). The rate in rural areas is 8 percent. In high-poverty neighborhoods in large cities, one-fifth of 16- to 19-year-olds were high school dropouts in 1999. Clearly, income levels influence education. Help Teens At-Risk, Help Disadvantaged Children, or Promote Education to reverse this trend.

SPRING WEDDINGS!

Spring is in the air, and that means weddings, weddings, weddings! We wanted to share a quote from one of our many wedding couples, who registered with JustGive.org to have their friends and family make donations in their names in lieu of traditional wedding gifts: "After looking at your site, it took us less than five minutes to decide that we didn't need wedding presents and this was the only registry for us. The way this is going we are feeling happier and happier about that decision by the day! You run a fantastic site and this has been a great process!"

Please let us know if you would like to register at JustGive.org for your wedding (OR ANY OCCASION!), and we will build a page for you. Also, tell friends about our service to encourage others to help make a difference.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH - from a JustGive.org nonprofit

-The exposure and publicity you provide for nonprofit organizations is vital to their work and to their success. Thanks to you, Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. will benefit from a great partnership with your service. One of LVA's ongoing challenges is to raise public awareness of the issue of adult literacy, and your site is a great vehicle to help us accomplish that goal! ~Literacy Volunteers of America
