JustGive Offers “The Gift of Giving” this Holiday Season
JustGive Makes Online Giving Easier Than Ever-With Links to More Than 850,000 Charities, There is Something Special for Everyone on Your Holiday Gift List
Oakland, CA (September 25, 2003) - Amid the stress and strain of holiday shopping, more and more people are looking to find gifts that reflect the "true meaning of the holidays." JustGive (www.justgive.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing charitable giving by making it part of our everyday lives, responds to this very need by offering a number of gift services including Charity Gift Certificates, Gift Donations, and a Charity Wish List. The site even features a Charity Wedding Registry.
"Americans spend on average about $700 for gifts during the holidays," says Kendall Webb, Executive Director and founder of JustGive. "If just a quarter of that was spent supporting a favorite charity as a gift for a loved one, imagine how much impact all of us would have on the causes and charities we care about."
JustGive enables people to make donations to any of the more than 850,000 U.S. nonprofits registered with the IRS. Every donation made through the website can be sent as a gift - in the name of a friend or family member. It's an especially helpful service for those people whose acquaintance is more formal: a boss, a business associate, a coworker, or a neighbor.
To make gift donations, simply visit www.justgive.org, choose a charity by search by keyword or name (or browsing the 19 cause-related categories), and use the Gift Option when donating. Donors can also have JustGive send an automatic email to the gift recipient.
JustGive is also launching Charity Gift Certificates this holiday season, adding to the many ways JustGive encourages everyday giving. Whereas with general gift donations, donors may or may not know their recipient's favorite charity, Charity Gift Certificates will enable people to purchase a gift certificate of a certain denomination and allow the recipient to pick their favorite charity. This is an especially valuable service for office gifts to replace the impersonal logo pens or popcorn bins usually given during the holidays to colleagues and associates.
Included in the variety of gift services is the Charity Wish List, which allows people to create a list of their favorite charities and then send an email to friends and family. These wish lists are the perfect way to let loved ones know what causes and charities you care about and that you rather have a donation made in your name in lieu of a gift. Password-protected reports enable individuals to keep track of donations made in their name, update lists, and add personal comments about each charity on the list.
"We are all looking for ways to add meaning to the chaos and commercialism of the holidays," Webb continues, "and our bevy of charity gift features allows shoppers to fulfill their desire to give a gift that reflects the spirit of the holidays."
JustGive has received national media attention for their innovative tools and services that enable people to participate in everyday charitable giving. They have been featured on Good Morning America, PBS, and MSNBC as well as in numerous local and national publications, including Forbes Magazine, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, and PC World. Corporate sponsors include Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Aveda.
