Take Care of Your Heart During the Holidays
More Americans gain weight during the holidays more than any other occasion. Statistics also state that a 4.7%
increase in heart disease and other heart related ailments occur over the two weeks spanning Christmas and the New Year.
This could be caused by a number of reasons, including poor eating habits, holiday stress, and the lack of exercise.
Keeping your stress levels down, watching what you eat, and making sure you get enough exercise during the cold winter
months will help you to remain healthy through the holidays and into the years to come.

Aid Workers Struggle in Pakistan
As winter embarks upon mountain villages in Pakistan, relief efforts are focusing on providing shelter
to the millions of homeless.
Doctors Without Borders has already distributed over 4,800 tents and 61,000 blankets and continues to provide medical support for victims.
World Vision has raised over $5 million and is working with the UN's World Food Program to provide emergency food. The UN is still trying to secure donations to fund the emergency appeal in order to provide long-term relief. The challenge has been to reach the most remote villages before winter set in and the routes become impassable.

Standing Up for Freedom
Rosa Parks was a seamstress in Alabama when, in December of 1955, she refused to
give up her seat on a city bus to a white passenger. The bus driver had her arrested for violating a local ordinance.
Her act sparked a citywide boycott of the bus system by blacks which led to
outlawing segregation on city buses. Over the next four decades, she heightened the awareness
of the history of the civil rights struggle of racial equality. Her example remains an
inspiration to freedom-loving people everywhere.
