JustGive and American Express Team Up to Encourage Charitable Giving This Holiday Season

JustGive Helps Connect American Express Cardmembers with More Than One Million U.S. Charities

San Francisco, Calif. - December 15, 2004 - JustGive (www.justgive.org), a national nonprofit organization that uses technology to increase overall giving by connecting people with the charities and causes they care about most, is helping to make charitable giving even more rewarding and convenient this holiday season, and throughout the year. With a three-way partnership between JustGive, American Express and GuideStar, The American Express® Donation Site (www.americanexpress.com/give) allows American Express Cardmembers to donate dollars or Membership Rewards® points and set up recurring donations to more than one million U.S. charities. Through December 31, 2004, eligible, enrolled Cardmembers can earn double Membership Rewards points for every dollar donated to charity (the maximum number of points Cardmembers can earn through this promotion is 25,000).

“Initially launched during the 2003 holiday season, the American Express Donation Site proved to be a tremendous success, generating millions of dollars in charitable donations from thousands of American Express Cardmembers,” said Elizabeth Langwith, vice president of Industry Strategy and Partnerships at American Express. “We are looking to build on last year’s accomplishments and have worked to increase awareness about this program with our Cardmembers who view this as a valuable, convenient way to ‘give back’ to the charities they are most closely aligned with.”

Through The American Express Donation Site, Cardmembers can choose to donate dollars or Membership Rewards points to their favorite charity year round.

Cardmembers can also donate to multiple organizations in a single transaction, and establish a convenient monthly or annual recurring monetary donation schedule. JustGive processes donations in a safe, secure and confidential environment, providing Cardmembers with an immediate receipt via e-mail for tax documentation purposes. Cardmembers can also access their own “Giving History” which captures all donations made through The American Express Donation Site.

JustGive deducts no administrative costs from the gift other than credit card fees.
