March is National Nutrition Month®
National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
A nonprofit organization that is committed to educating the public about food choices and nutrition is Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). PCRM sponsors public education campaigns on nutrition, conducts nutrition research, and promotes preventive medicine through innovative programs:
PCRM has led the way for reforms of federal nutrition policies. Each year publishing a report card for the National School Lunch Program.
Their clinical research programs are breaking new ground in diabetes, cancer, and other serious conditions.
Their Healthy Eating for Life book series focuses on nutrition for several different groups of people:
PCRM's Cancer Project aims to prevent cancer through distributing lifesaving information on reducing cancer risk and improving survival when cancer has been diagnosed. They also conduct state-of-the-art human clinical research on the power of nutrition on health. PCRM is leading the way for nutrition research and education.
The Cancer Project sponsors cooking classes for cancer prevention and survival. Open to cancer survivors and their loved ones, classes include presentations by nutrition specialists and doctors as well as hands-on cooking demonstrations.
