Relaunched Site Offers Donors More Reasons and Ways to Give...
JustGive's relaunched website makes charity more personal and giving more convenient
San Francisco, California—November 24, 2008—At a time when charitable donations are so needed, JustGive.org has made it easier for donors to give, to connect with the charities of choice, and to personalize the ways they support causes they care about most—for every purpose and occasion.
JustGive's more powerful, redesigned website presents compelling reasons and many more ways to give. The new site engages donors by:
- Providing three ways to conveniently find and select a chosen charity—through immediate access to a comprehensive GuideStar® database of more than 1.5 million charities that donors can search by zip code to select local charities (within their defined geographic distance); the JustGive Guide of 1,000 carefully selected charities grouped into 19 causes categories (each charity has met stringent public requirements); and the current Top 10 Causes as identified by charitable giving trends.
- Introducing the GiveNow Charity Gift Card as a new way to support a favorite cause. Available in five different e-cards as well a new traditional gift card, GiveNow cards are easily customized to match special occasions (holidays, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and more), instantly inscribed in each recipient's name, and sent with the donor's personal message.
- Offering expanded Charity Gift Registry options, with the ability to create and donate to a registry for any reason or gift-giving occasion, including fundraising for a special purpose.
- Streamlining the giving process—with improved navigation, the ability to take action quickly, and a straightforward, simplified process for redeeming charitable gifts.
"We expanded the site to help make giving more a part of everyday life," says Founder Kendall Webb. "There are so many times when charity the best and most meaningful way to honor someone or recognize a special occasion. We wanted to encourage charitable giving by offering more—more reasons and more personal ways to give—while making it as easy as possible to do."
The new Be Inspired section of the site encourages a lifetime of giving and shares stories of the difference one person can make. It includes numerous personal stories about children and adults who were motivated to act and the creative ways they’ve raised money for charity—from the 78-year old forklift operator who worked 12-hour days and donated over $1 million to charity to the 11-year old who started the nationwide charity, Suitcases for Kids, which has collected more than 25,000 suitcases for children in foster care.
To make it most convenient for donors to keep track of their personal giving, JustGive.org builds a password-protected Giving History for each donor online, accessible to view or print at any time. The Giving History supplies the information they need for tax records. Also, with a single click of a button, donors can use their Giving History to select any or all of the previous donations and instantly make them again, at any time.
San Francisco-based JustGive, started in 2000 by Harvard graduate Kendall Webb, was among the first nonprofit organizations to understand how the power of the Web could be harnessed for charitable purposes. JustGive.org is guided by its mission to increase giving by connecting people with the charities and causes they care most about. The destination for online charitable giving™, JustGive.org has been recognized by Forbes as one of the Best of the Web.
